The Big Cannabis Events
As the number of people who use cannabis products continues to rise, it means there are more and more people out there with something in common. Cannabis events are the perfect places for like minded people to connect, learn, and enjoy the tiny plant that can bring us so much joy.
While in-person events were pretty much cancelled in 2020 due to COVID-19, there are a few popular expos that are beginning to make a return back to in-person glory. With that said, there are still plenty of virtual options so you can enjoy from the comfort of home.
Regardless of if you want to attend in-person, remote, or even business cannabis events, we’ve got you covered. Here are some of the biggest cannabis events that you should mark your calendars for.
In-Person Cannabis Events
As vaccinations ramp up and more people become immunized, we’re excited to get back to the energy and charisma of in-person events. Many tickets are still limited due to social distancing guidelines, so you’ll want to reserve yours fast!
New England Cannabis Convention (NECANN)
Cannabis sales and cultivation has flourished in Massachusetts ever since it legalized marijuana back in 2018. And because of that, you can find some really fun and exciting exhibitions in the Boston area.
One of the main attractions is the New England Cannabis Convention, or NECANN. They consistently have some of the largest hemp and cannabis industry professionals showing off their advancements in cannabis tech, cultivation, and manufacturing.
This is the place to be if you’re learning to grow your education or just grow some pot. It’s a place for entrepreneurs, educators, advocates, and consumers to connect and share the love. Plus, NECANN donates 10% of the floor’s booth space to local cannabis advocacy groups and non-profit organizations.
The 2019 event boasted over 9,000 people in attendance. And while the 2020 event was moved online, they are hoping to have their 2021 event in person.
NECANN 2021 will be hosted at Hynes Convention Center from September 10-12, 2021.
If you talk to anyone about cannabis events, the first thing that’s likely to come to mind is CannaCon. This is because it’s a national convention that has had successful expos in states like California, Washington, Colorado, Michigan, Massachusetts, and even Alaska.
This is a great event for industry professionals specifically, as you’ll meet vendors from all across the country in multiple different aspects of the field. Learn from farmers, cultivation leaders, lawyers, extraction technicians, budtenders, and more!
If you own a cannabis business, you should definitely try your best to snag a booth at one of these expos. It’s probably one of the best ways to grow your business because you’ll be exposed to so many interested customers while also having the ability to walk around and learn more from the industry’s best.
Since CannaCon is a moving convention that occurs in many different cities, check their website to register for the event closest to you.
Lift & Co Expo
Canada and cannabis is a match made in heaven, so you know that any marijuana convention in Toronto will be top notch. The Lift & Co Expo is a three day exhibition featuring a typical convention style floor with dedicated days for both entrepreneurs and consumers. It means that anyone can get in on the action.
For consumers, this means getting your hands on some of the newest trends in smokeware, apparel, CBD products, and more. You can connect with industry professionals and expand your knowledge of everything there is to know about weed.
But one of the biggest draws of Lift & Co are the diverse panel discussions that you’ll be able to sit in. Topics range from the usual things like edibles and homegrowing. However, there are some really interesting topics like using cannabis for love and romance, parenting, sports and recreation, and policing and convictions. It’s like a cannabis encyclopedia that you don’t have to read.
Lift & Co Expo will take place at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre from November 18 – 21, 2021. Consumer days are reserved for the 20th and 21st.
The Hemp and Cannabis Fair
Expos and conventions are great, but if you’re looking for something a bit more fun and care-free, The Hemp and Cannabis Fair in Medford, Oregon is the place to be.
As the name implies, this is less for businesses and geared right towards the consumer. While you can still learn more about horticulture, industry developments, and more, you’ll also be able to enjoy some CBD edibles, play fun games, and buy some dope accessories to spruce up your stash.
On top of that, we just love that its acronym is the THC Fair.
The next in-person Hemp and Cannabis Fair is coming to Medford, OR on May 22-23, 2021.
Cannabis Drinks Expo
We love to see innovation in the world of weed, and there’s really nothing more exciting than the budding cannabis beverage industry. The Cannabis Drinks Expo seeks to show off some tasty cannabis beverages from national manufacturers.
From hemp-based sport drinks to THC cocktails, this expo shows off alcohol’s biggest new competitor. Not only can you learn more about this growing cannabis application, but you can start forming your own ideas about new ways to innovate with your own products.
This is a great way to come together and address legalized cannabis in a fun and different way. While in-person events are not confirmed, they are hopeful that they can have their San Francisco and Chicago expos in August 2021.
Remote Cannabis Events
Even with vaccines ramping up across the country, there’s nothing better than attending events right from your own home. So pack your favorite bowl and log on to any one of these exciting cannabis events coming to a computer near you.
High Times Cannabis Cup
The High Times Cannabis Cup is usually an energetic in-person event where top CBD manufacturers from across the country put their products head to head against a panel of accredited judges. It’s a can’t miss event that we look forward to all year long.
Of course, COVID-19 has thrown a wrench in our usual plans. With that said, it may have been for the better.
For the first time ever, the pool of judges will be composed of some of the most experienced judges we can find: the nationwide public. You can order a judging kit to be delivered straight to your door, and it will be filled with sample products for you to try by yourself or with friends. You’ll judge them based on a set of criteria, and then the awards show will tally up the results to crown a champion with the best CBD product.
Obviously this is great for you because you’ll get to try some new and fresh CBD topicals, gummies, oils, sprays, etc. But it’s even better for manufacturers who want to get their products into the hands of the general public. It’s a win-win for everyone involved!
Benzinga Cannabis Capital Conference
Typically, the Benzinga Cannabis Capital Conference is one of the premiere events for cannabis investors, executives, and traders to come together in an event space to learn, connect, and even meet to discuss future business endeavors.
But despite moving the entire conference online, none of these core aspects are lost. It’s a great way for small businesses or private companies to help spread their ideas and connect with seasoned investors to gain business insight. Not to mention, speaker presentations from industry leaders will give you the charisma and depth to make your own business better than ever.
The next two Benzinga virtual conferences will take place in June and October 2021.
The Seattle Hempfest is one of the most fun events of the year for people who appreciate cannabis. It’s a highly energetic festival filled with CBD vendors, smokeware shops, food trucks, games, and more. But just because it’s moved online doesn’t mean the fun has to stop!
The 2020 Hempfest was a full-force livestream that featured performances from musicians, comedians, and poets as well as celebrity interviews and keynotes from industry professionals. They basically packed everything that makes in-person hempfest so great into some small, bite-sized videos that you can enjoy on your own time.
While the 2021 Hempfest is TBD, you can go back and watch the 2020 Hempfest whenever you want.
Cannabis Research Conference
While most cannabis events either focus on the business or consumer side of things, the Virtual Cannabis Research Conference places an emphasis on medicine and other scientific advancements in the world of weed.
One of the benefits of a virtual conference is that this gives broader access to even more speakers and presentations than normal. For the 2021 event, they’re planning to have nearly 100 live presentations in addition to an interactive exhibit hall where attendees can communicate with vendors in real time!
You can attend and learn everything going on in the science side of things, or you can even submit your own abstract if you’ve been doing some studying on your own time. This is a can’t-miss event, especially for people who use marijuana for all of its medicinal benefits.
This year’s virtual conference will run from August 3-5, 2021.
GCI Virtual Summit
The GCI Virtual Summit is one of the most professional and poised cannabis events in the nation. With thought leaders ranging from cannabis professionals to NBA players, there is something here for everyone.
You’ll be able to have face to face meetings with future collaborators right from your own home while also networking with like minded people to help grow your business as well as your knowledge. Themes range from medicine to cultivation, or applied science to finances. There’s also a focus on other psychedelics in general, so you can expand your horizons outside of just cannabis.
You can apply for a free ticket to the summit that will take place from June 8-10.
Going to cannabis events is one of the best ways to spread the love of cannabinoids while also engaging with likeminded people. While we’re happy that in-person events are starting to sprout up, there are still plenty of remote events that are just as exciting.
Some of the top in-person events returning this year are NECANN and CannaCon. These let investors and professionals interact with consumers to help spread awareness of their innovations. The Lift & Co expo is similar, and even has devoted consumer days for passersby to enjoy the exhibition floor.
For something a little off the beaten path, the Hemp and Cannabis Fair or the Cannabis drinks expo are completely different from any other in-person event. These are more fun and funky, giving consumers the ability to experience a whole new side of cannabis products.
But you can still have some fun right from home. The High Times Cannabis Cup is going virtual for the first time ever, letting the nationwide public test out some leading CBD products to crown a winner. The Seattle Hempfest is another consumer based event that has shifted online, giving you access to videos and performances at your own will.
For business people, the GCI Virtual Summit and Benzinga Cannabis Capital Conference are must-attend events in order to link up with likeminded people and spread your industry knowledge.
